Nick Michael Taylor


One of Texas' finest guitarists, Nick Michael Taylor has earned a reputation worldwide as a passionate and eloquent blues/rock guitarist.

Nick has performed throughout the U.S., Europe and Israel, playing with and/or sharing the bill with artists such as Bobby Whitlock & CoCo Carmel, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, John Mayall, Albert Collins, James Cotton, Eric Burdon, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Pat Travers, Nils Lofgren, Nick Lowe and Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

Since the release of his debut CD "Heart Full of Blues" in 2005, the passion and artistry of Nick's playing has won critical acclaim throughout the United States and around the world.

Nick's long-awaited second full-length CD "Sweet Sour and Blue" is now available at sites such as CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes, Rhapsody and most other online retail outlets.

"Sweet Sour and Blue" features ten songs, of which eight are original compositions ranging from straight ahead blues to guitar-driven rock to sensitive ballads plus covers of Steve Winwood's classic "Had To Cry Today" originally recorded in 1969 by Blind Faith and "Sweet Wine" originally recorded by Cream in 1966.

"Sweet Sour and Blue" also features beautiful vocal arrangements plus acoustic, slide and Leslie guitar textures in addition to a guest performance by internationally acclaimed harmonica virtuoso Steve Krase.

Following the release of "Sweet Sour and Blue," Nick has worked as lead guitarist with former Derek & the Dominos keyboardist/vocalist Bobby Whitlock & CoCo Carmel.

Nick has now teamed up with former WAR vocalist Tweed Smith on a contemporary blues project performing a dynamic range of original blues songs and select covers.

Tweed recorded and toured with WAR from 1979-81 and was part of the American National Touring Company production of "Jesus Christ Superstar." She has also worked with artists such as Dianne Reeves, Sly Stone, Sarah Vaughn, Bobby Womack, Calvin Owens, Ringo Starr and Ron Wood.

Performing as Tweed Smith with Nick Michael Taylor, their blues quintet is currently a finalist in the 2017 Houston Blues Challenge.
